Manchester City have made a £67 million bid for Chelsea target Josko Gvardiol

According to Bild via SportWitness (h/t football.london), Manchester City have made an offer worth £67 million to RB Leipzig for Chelsea target Josko Gvardiol.

The Cityzens will have to contend with the Blues for the signing of the Croatian youngster. The Stamford Bridge side are in dire need of defenders this summer.

Gvardiol put in excellent performances last season. The 20-year-old was a rising prospect at Dinamo Zagreb. Leipzig got him last summer. Since then, the Croatian’s talent has been evident for everyone to see in the Bundesliga.

Gvardiol has even amassed 10 caps for his national side. The 20-year-old is highly thought of, which is why top clubs in the Premier League are after him.

In the previous campaign, the Croatia international featured in 44 games for Die Roten Bullen. The 20-year-old centre-back is capable of playing in the left-back position as well.

Fans who’ve seen Gvardiol play know that the Croatian is fast, strong and sound with the ball at his feet. These traits make him one of the most sought-after players.

With Chelsea in dire need of reinforcements at the back, it’s no wonder that we’re going after the 20-year-old. The Blues lost two prominent centre-backs at the end of last season. We’ve only brought in one defender in Kalidou Koulibaly till now.

Other defensive options such as Cesar Azpilicueta, Malang Sarr, Levi Colwill and Marcos Alonso have uncertain futures. Thus Chelsea need to go out in the market and strengthen the squad.

Gvardiol is a decent option for the Blues. The Croatian has age on his side. Hopefully, the 20-year-old comes through the doors at Stamford Bridge. He has all the attributes and talent to develop into a world-class defender in the future.
