Barcelona put price tag of €30 million on Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang as Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel pushes for a transfer

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Chelsea have been told to pay €30 million this transfer window to land the signature of Barcelona forward Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang.

The Blues were hoping to cough up less money than what the Catalans are demanding for the Gabonese at the moment. Chelsea wantaway Marcos Alonso has also been part of the talks between the two clubs.

Thomas Tuchel is adamant about wanting the 33-year-old in the squad. The Stamford Bridge side evidently requires a number nine. But Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez is keen on keeping Aubameyang at Camp Nou.

The forward line has seen multiple departures this summer. Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner have joined other teams this summer. The two were signed to provide a decent amount of goals for the side but weren’t up to the mark.

The Belgian had a disappointing homecoming in the 2021/22 campaign. The 29-year-old arrived with high expectations from Inter Milan. Lukaku proved himself as a prolific goalscorer in Serie A, but he failed to replicate the form in the Premier League.

Werner was another player the Stamford Bridge side decided to bring to London after making a mark in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig. But the German wasn’t able to adapt and settle into English football’s first tier and returned to his former club.

This transfer window at Chelsea has seen the arrival of a single attacking player as of yet. Raheem Sterling was the marquee signing from Manchester City. The England international is a quality player.

But the Blues still need someone to finish off chances. Our attackers haven’t had the best of time in front of the goal. In the game against Tottenham Hotspur, Kai Havertz played as our centre-forward but missed some key chances.

Supporters feel the side needs a prolific goalscorer. Whether Chelsea get Aubameyang remains to be seen. Only time will tell whether he’ll be the answer to our attacking woes.
