Former Everton and Chelsea winger Pat Nevin has urged Frank Lampard to sign Chelsea duo Billy Gilmour and Conor Gallagher on loan this summer. While speaking to Bonus Code Bets (h/t Metro), Nevin urged the Blues legend to make use of the loan market.
Last week, Lampard warned Everton that they could face another relegation battle if they don’t sign any new players. This came after his side were trashed 4-0 by MLS side Minnesota United last week. The Toffees flirted with relegation last season, surviving the drop with the skin of their teeth.
They have gone and sold their star attacker Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur this summer. His absence was felt by Lampard during their friendly game and now he has been urged to make use of the loan market.
“I think Everton should use the loan market. They should try to sign Billy Gilmour and Connor Gallagher if they are available. They would make a massive difference to Everton.”
Gilmour endured a terrible last season. The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at Norwich City and had a tough time. at Carrow Road. He will be keen to get his promising career back on track next season.
The Scottish international was included in the pre-season squad by Tuchel this summer. However, he was sent to train with the Under-23 side and it could indicate that he may not be a part of the plan for next season. A loan move would benefit the player and Everton could prove to be an ideal destination.
As for Gallagher, he enjoyed a fine season on loan at Crystal Palace last season. He emerged as one of the best young talented midfielders in the Premier League and was also part of Tuchel’s pre-season squad. It remains to be seen if he will stay at the club next season and could fight for his place on the team.
Moving to Everton would aid Gilmour well. Getting more Premier League experience will only help him improve and this could provide Chelsea with the perfect opportunity to monitor the player more.
The Blues will have to wait for Everton to make a move. Lampard’s connection with Chelsea also could help him secure the players he needs. As for the Blues, they will be happy that their players are getting guidance from one of their legends.
