Transfer News: AC Milan join transfer race for Manchester City star and Chelsea target Gabriel Jesus

According to Graeme Bailey via 90min football (h/t Football.London), AC Milan are set to join the race for talented Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus with Chelsea also said to be interested in the talented forward.

Jesus joined Manchester City from Palmeiras in 2017 and has since then gone on to establish himself as a very dependable striker in the Premier League. Although the past two seasons haven’t been kind to him, he has still managed to impress in the limited opportunities he has got.

The 25-year-old has played 41 times for Pep Guardiola’s side this season scoring 13 goals and providing 12 assists across all competitions. The Brazilian had a great run towards the backend of the season where he scored a truckload of goals for the Cityzens.

Chelsea have been credited with an interest in the star forward but they are not alone with AC Milan also said to be keen on a move for the Brazilian.

Too much money?

While Gabriel Jesus obviously has the talent required to succeed at a top club like Chelsea, he may not come cheap. Nevertheless, it is not a secret that Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez’s moves to the Etihad will hamper his playing time.

One thing the Manchester City forward has going in his favour is the fact that his contract with the PL champions expires in 2023 and if the club does not sell him this summer, they could risk losing him on a free transfer in the near future.

City are in a position where they cannot hold out for too high a bid for the Brazilian and hence the 25-year-old may just come for a reasonable price. Chelsea could take advantage of this situation to snap up their target striker.

Chelsea have options in plenty in the forward areas and reinforcements aren’t really the need of the hour but it remains to be seen if there will be any outgoings from our forward line. If that is the case, there should be a spot in the team for a star like Gabriel Jesus.

The striker has Premier League pedigree and could turn out to be a very good player for us. It remains to be seen if we manage to pull a deal off for the Brazilian that will not turn out to be too expensive.
