Cristiano Ronaldo is not for sale, says Manchester United amid Chelsea interest

According to Manchester Evening News, Despite interest from Chelsea, Manchester United have made it clear to Cristiano Ronaldo that he is not for sale.

Ronaldo returned to Manchester United from Juventus last summer, beginning his second stint there one year ago. With 24 goals, he had a successful season on a personal level, but the Red Devils had a terrible campaign and were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League.

As a result, there have been rumours about Ronaldo’s future at Old Trafford as he won’t be participating in Europe’s top league for the first time in 20 years. And that will naturally put question marks over the future of someone nicknamed ‘Mr Champions League’ who is fast approaching the end of his playing career.

The news that the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, had a meeting with Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has seemingly irked those at Old Trafford.

A high-ranking source at Old Trafford has made it very obvious that Ronaldo is staying put and that Ten Hag has already incorporated him into his plans for the upcoming campaign.

“Cristiano is not for sale. We want and fully expect him to be with us next season.”

Christian Pulisic has been in and out of the team for a variety of reasons, and Hakim Ziyech has yet to live up to the fanfare that followed him from Ajax to London. Timo Werner has been linked with a move away from Bridge while Romelu Lukaku’s imminent loan move to Inter Milan is just around the corner.

Cristiano Ronaldo is currently serving his second spell at Manchester United.

Although Thomas Tuchel’s team has plenty of alternatives up top, it might be necessary to bring in reinforcements to battle Manchester City and Liverpool on an immediate basis. In the long run, it might not turn out to be a great signing, should the Portuguese lose his magic owing to his growing age.

But in the short term, this transfer would grab headlines and create short-term results. Ronaldo’s goal-scoring ability and winning mentality is second to none. But if he’s not up for sale, it’s better not to waste our time and focus on more realistic targets.
