Chelsea star Christian Pulisic responds to transfer speculations during international duty

While speaking in an interview as quoted by Football.London, Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic has revealed that he is looking forward to working in the new Blues era despite a lack of game time in recent months.

The USMNT star started the last campaign with major injury concerns and was omitted from the squad for a significant amount of time. Even though he made his return around last November, he failed to give consistent performances and fell down the pecking order. He ended the season with eight goals and five assists in 38 matches across all competitions.

Pulisic was on full display for his national team in a friendly against Morocco earlier this week. Apart from giving a sensational performance, he also created an awe-inspiring assist, which displayed the impact he can have on the field.

After the game, the American star was questioned regarding his future and he suggested that despite facing a lack of game time at Chelsea, he wants to continue at the West London club. Pulisic even added that he would try to get more playing time in the following season.

“Of course, I want to get more playing time. I want to be on the field as much as I can and be the sharpest I can be and fit as well. I think I still got a lot of games. But it’s always something that I’m working at and trying to be regular at club level as well to put myself in the best position to be fit when I come here with my national team.”

When asked about his view on the new owners, the 23-year-old forward termed them as ‘good people’ and suggested he is looking forward to working with them. Hopefully he will have more reasons to celebrate next season.

“At the end of the season, we were able to meet with them, and they were around the club a lot. They are really good people, so I am excited moving forward.”

Pulisic set to stay?

Not only Pulisic, but Chelsea’s whole forward contingent has failed to showcase a consistent spell in the recent campaign. Even though Romelu Lukaku ended the season as the Blues’ top scorer, he has not quite reached his potential. Timo Werner and Kai Havertz both experienced a drop in form and were not much of a help upfront.

Amid such a situation, Lukaku has been linked with a transfer move to Inter as he is expected to be eyeing a reunion with his former team. If he leaves then our club would suffer a huge blow and might have to bring quality reinforcements to fill that void.

That’s why Pulisic’s stay at the club might be more advantageous than his departure. The American star was able to perform in some crucial games in the final phase of the season and it steam he has managed to hold the consistency for his national side.

The USMNT forward’s comments suggest that he is committed to the project and wants to earn opportunities while staying at the club. Thomas Tuhchel has some priority signing to do in the summer, hence, Pulisic’s stay would ensure he doesn’t have to pay much attention to attacking reinforcements.
