According to football agent Yvan Le Mee via Sport Witness (h/t Football.London), Juventus could prove to be a thorn in the side for Chelsea as they target Jorginho and Aurelien Tchouameni ahead of the 2022/23 season.
Jorginho will see his current contract with the Blues expire in the summer of 2023. That has resulted in him getting constantly linked with a move elsewhere. Juve are interested in signing him, and they could have an “opportunity” because of the ownership uncertainty at Stamford Bridge.
However, the Bianconeri have no plans to stop just there as they are also looking to pip Thomas Tuchel’s side for Tchouameni. He is one of the highly-rated defensive midfielders in world football, and AS Monaco would not provide any leeway for any of the interested parties as a result.
“Watch out for Jorginho, who can become an opportunity given Chelsea’s situation. But the best shot for Juventus would always be Tchouameni. He is a phenomenon; also, for this reason, Monaco will not make any discounts.”
This piece of information would be concerning, to say the least, as we could potentially lose out on one of our midfield targets and a crucial player in the squad as well. As such, the West London side must be wary of the interest from Massimiliano Allegri’s side so as not to receive any blows moving forward.
We cannot afford to lose Jorginho in any case as we lack someone of his profile in our ranks. Billy Gilmour is a good shout, but he has some ways to go before becoming ready to get prominence in the first-team set-up. Hence, we must keep hold of the Italian at all costs to maintain the quality of our squad.
As for Tchouameni, it is pretty clear how much of an impact he can make in our squad. The 22-year-old has quickly cemented a starting spot at Monaco and the French national team at such a young age. Bringing him in can be considered necessary to protect our long term interests.
After all, Jorginho and N’Golo Kante will enter the final year of their respective contracts this summer, plus they are nearing the end of their playing careers as well. Replacing them would be a difficult task indeed but signing someone like Tchouameni would go a long way to give us a smooth transition.
Only time will tell how this situation will pan out in the coming months ahead of the summer transfer window. We hope that the management will pay heed to Le Mee’s warning about the Italian side and take appropriate actions as a result.
