Transfer News: Olympique Lyon reject two loan recall offers from Chelsea for Emerson Palmieri

According to the transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Olympique Lyon have already rejected two loan recall offers from Chelsea for Emerson Palmieri in the January transfer window. The English club are desperate to bring him back to Stamford Bridge following the injury to Ben Chilwell.

Chilwell will miss the rest of the 2021-22 campaign, having undergone surgery for his torn ACL. The Blues have eyed Emerson as their primary option to solve this issue and have been trying hard to meet their needs. They are ready to offer compensation to Lyon if they approve his recall.

However, the Ligue 1 club are trying their hardest not to let the Italian leave at the moment. That is despite Thomas Tuchel’s side trying to offer €4million in compensation. As things stand, Chelsea’s requests have been turned down twice. While the Blues do also have a plan B, there is no information about the details surrounding it.

Could Emerson Palmieri rejoin Chelsea in January?

Potential roadblock?

As the French side continues to stonewall for us, concerns continue to grow whether we could get the 27-year-old in the winter transfer window. But the backup plan does give us a sigh of relief as it shows that the club has considered all the possible outcomes regarding their attempts to sign him.

But we would hope that this does not drag on for too long since there are several high profile fixtures that the team will face this month. We want the Blues loanee to join us as quickly as possible to help us get through these upcoming challenges.

The reimbursement we are offering is reasonable, but it remains to be seen if there are any plans to raise the sum. Marina Granvoskaia has to ensure that we still hold some cards during negotiations as the Les Gones have the upper hand over us at the moment.

Marcos Alonso is our only option in the left-back position at the moment. While Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi are capable of making up the numbers, they lack the defensive nous and will struggle to offer solidity. Failure to bring in reinforcement would hamper our chances of attaining titles, which have happened with Liverpool last season.

While the Italian international does not have the same quality as Chilwell, the former can still do a solid job for us. The fullback was involved in a similar situation for his national team during the Euro 2020 campaign, and he had contributed to his team’s continental glory. We hope to see a repeat of that if he does end up joining us in the coming days.
