Ralf Rangnick points out the reason for rejecting Chelsea offer before taking United job

According to Football.London, New Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has revealed that Chelsea’s short term offer with no long term assurance was why he refused to take charge of the West Londoners.

Manchester United officially announced the appointment of interim manager Ralf Rangnick on Monday. The German manager was present to watch United’s last night clash against Arsenal, and it is believed that he could feature in his first Premier League game as Red Devils manager against Crystal palace. However, the story could have been entirely different if he had accepted the Chelsea job.

It is believed that after sacking Frank Lampard earlier this year, the Blues board offered the head manager’s role to Rangnick. However, it was a short term role and there was no assurance for the move to be made permanent the next season.

In a press conference earlier today, the 63-year-old manager pointed out the concern that prevented him from taking the job at the Bridge. How exactly a move to Old Trafford can be counted as an improvement, beats us.

“At the time when Chelsea contacted me, in February, they only spoke about the option to become interim manager for four months, without any perspective to work in the long-term together.”

The concern of the former RB Leipzig manager is quite understandable given the stature involved. A Premier League manager puts a lot of work into making the strategy successful, and sometimes the short timeframe isn’t enough to implement the tactics.

It looks like the West Londoners have missed out on the opportunity to sign a revolutionary of the modern game. However, Marina Granovskaia’sdoesnt have many reasons to regret their decision to opt for Thomas Tuchel instead.

The German manager swiftly found the winning formula and made Chelsea a serial winner. He has changed the team’s approach and sparked aggressiveness within the ranks. Last season, the former Paris Saint-German manager led the Blues to Champions League glory

This season the Blues stands in a comfortable position domestically and also on the European front. So it is fair to say the board’s decision has worked out perfectly for us.
