Manchester United ace Luke Shaw reveals his admiration for Chelsea legend Ashley Cole

According to Football.London, Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has admitted that he admired the Chelsea legend, Ashley Cole. The Blues and the Red Devils have had a long-standing rivalry that resulted in many clashes between them.

Ashley Cole is considered as one of the greatest left-backs England has ever seen and has been idolised by many during his time. Shaw, who is a left-back, was mesmerised by the quality he displayed at Stamford Bridge.

Cole has played a massive 338 games for the West London club and has an assist tally of 38 with seven goals added to it. He has also won the Premier League, Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup with Chelsea.

Ashley Cole is a legend of the game.

“I loved Ashley Cole growing up. I looked up to him. He was one of the best left-backs in the world.”

The England international revealed that the 40-year-old is his idol and believes he is one of the best. He also made quite a claim by being honest about watching Chelsea live in his childhood. He added how he wants to be like the England legend and follow in his footsteps in terms of style.

“I used to go to Chelsea games and watch him and with me being a left-back, I always looked up to him and wanted to be like him.”

Being a Man Utd player, his admiration would be of definite value and be appreciated by the Blues supporters. It is great to see how the legacy of a legend like Cole is carried on to the future and among rivals as well.

The 26-year-old still has a long way to go to be close to the level of his idol and, time will tell if he would reach that goal or not.
