Chelsea told which teams they can face in the Club World Cup

According to Football. London, the six competitors that Chelsea will face in the Club World Cup is finalized after the Copa Libertadores reached its conclusion.

Palmeiras have defeated Flamengo in the Copa Libertadores final to get a direct entry to next year’s Club World Cup. With the inclusion of the South American champions, the set is now complete for the prestigious tournament.

The competition is set to take place in early 2022 in Dubai. The six winners of each confederation’s continental cup get the qualification along with the host nation’s national champions (Al Hilal).

The seven finalized contenders are – Chelsea (UEFA Champions League), Palmeiras (Copa Libertadores), Al Hilal (Hosts), Al Ahly (CAF Champions League), Monterrey (CONCACAF Champions League), Auckland City (OFC Champions League), Al Jazira Club (AFC Champions League).

The draw will take place on Monday night, where Chelsea Club legend John Terry will feature to conduct the event.

Chelsea, the European champion, would feature directly in the semi-final, and South American champion Palmeiras also get the same luxury. The two teams, hence, can’t face each other in the semi-final round. Anyone from the other six contenders is going to be a possible competitor for Chelsea in the last four.

Chelsea, historically, have never won this particular FIFA competition. The best we could manage was a second-place finish in 2012 after losing to Brazilian giants, Corinthians.

More Chelsea News

This season, the West London team are in red hot form claiming the top spot in the Premier League. Chelsea’s Champions League results are also eye-pleasing, having defeated Juventus by a 4-0 scoreline in our most recent encounter.

While this is an opportunity for Thomas Tuchel to add a feather to his Chelsea CV, it is more importantly an opportunity for the club to write their name in history. We all saw the glory that comes with winning this cup when Liverpool lifted it in 2019, and our fans should now look forward to experiencing that high for themselves.
