Chelsea starlet Conor Gallagher not assured of Stamford Bridge opportunities despite Thomas Tuchel’s assurances

According to Eurosport (h/t Express), Conor Gallagher is not convinced that he would get regular game time at Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel next season.

The 21-year-old is currently on loan to Crystal Palace where he enjoying a great spell. The youngster has already scored four goals and provided two assists across 11 games for the Eagles. Gallagher also made his senior debut with the England national squad in their latest World Cup Qualifier against San Marino.

It could certainly be difficult to walk into the current Chelsea midfield with the likes of Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, and Mateo Kovacic cementing their place under the German manager. Even with all the age and experience in the middle of the park, the addition of the English professional footballer could help future-proof the Blues.

He could also help add more depth to the West London club that would help them compete at a higher level consistently. While Gallagher enjoys a key role under Patrick Viera at Crystal Palace there could be reservations as to whether he would get the same kind of chances with the Stamford Bridge outfit.

To his credit, Tuchel has given youngsters like Mason Mount, Reece James, and Trevoh Chalobah their fair share of chances to prove themselves in the first team. Callum Hudson-Odoi has also been given some more game time recently but then again these players have been in the fray for quite a while.

The 21-year-old English midfielder would make a great addition and is already showing what he is capable of. It is also believed that Billy Gilmour will be handed a more senior role with the Blues next season after his current loan spell with Norwich City. Gallagher is also said to have certain hiccups in the fact that Chelsea may acquire a few more attackers in the transfer window between now and the next campaign.

Despite the assurance, it seems that Gallagher is not yet convinced of his role in this Chelsea first-team. He currently seems to be enjoying his loan spell at Selhurst Park and only time can tell us the kind of role that he will play at Stamford Bridge in the future.
