Chelsea in contention to sign Aurelien Tchouameni in recent weeks due to the sanctions.
According to a tweet by Ekrem Konur, Chelsea will have to shell out more than €40m for Aurelien Tchouameni. The journalist claimed that Monaco will not accept bids of less than that amount. He added that the 21-year-old is on the shortlist for Chelsea but no talks have taken place so far between the clubs.
Chelsea have a good crop of central midfielders at their disposal. The trio of Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante is one of the best in the land. Chelsea added to that contingent Saul Niguez over the summer on a loan deal. However, the likes of Kante and Jorginho are not getting any younger and more youthful options need to be looked at for the long run.
The Blues are indeed doing so as they apparently have AS Monaco sensation Aurelien Tchouameni in their sights. Already a regular for the French side, the midfielder has developed into one of the finest young players in Ligue 1 who is impressing one and all with his performances. However, Tchouameni could end up costing Chelsea a pretty penny if they decide to go for him.
That is according to journalist Ekrem Konur. Monaco will not entertain any bids of less than €40m. The Frenchman is said to be on the shortlist for Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel but Chelsea and Monaco are not yet in talks over any potential deal for him.
Should Chelsea not decide to sign Saul on a permanent deal, Tchouameni could well be the option they turn to. He is just 21 and is already playing a starring role for his side. Chelsea could use a young presence in the midfield in a season or two. For that, they would need to start talks with Monaco first.
