According to BristolLive (h/t football.london), Chelsea are closing in on a deal to sign 14-year-old Shaun Wade from Bristol City.
The Blues are offering lucrative terms to the EFL Championship club to secure the signing of the 14-year-old, and it seems like the paperwork for the same will be completed soon before the clubs make an official announcement.
This is incredibly good news for the Stamford Bridge outfit as it adds another talent to their young roster. Over the last two years, there has been an influx of young talent into the senior team.
The likes of Mason Mount, Reece James, Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori, Billy Gilmour, Callum Hudson-Odoi have featured heavily for the club. 19-year-old Xavier Mbuyamba has also recently been included in the first-team setup.
The likes of Armando Broja, Tino Anjorin, and Ian Maatsen have also played for the club during pre-season or the EFL Cup over the last two years.
Even though the Blues sanction a lot of deals for their youngsters, they do include a buy-back clause a lot of the time, indicating that there is a future for them. Tino Livramento and Tammy Abraham both left Stamford Bridge last summer but the Blues were quick to include buy-back clauses for them.
The London club’s latest exponent is Trevoh Chalobah, who had a fantastic pre-season under Thomas Tuchel earlier this summer, and was drafted into the first-team immediately, while he also made his Premier League debut in the club’s season opener this year.
Thus, Shaun Wade could yet be another talent who could impress Tuchel in the coming years, but the youngster’s main focus would be to settle down in the club’s academy first and inculcate the DNA of the Stamford Bridge outfit.
