Speaking to the club’s official website (h/t Football.london), Petr Cech has claimed that the winner of Chelsea vs Manchester City will hold an advantage over the weekend. The Chelsea legend feels that the early kick-off will aid the winner as they can relax and see the other clubs play without any worry.
The Premier League is slowly gathering pace as some sections of the table are taking shape. There have been a few surprises while others have fared as expected. Chelsea are joint top with Liverpool, trailed by Manchester United on goal difference. The Blues have a tough challenge on their hands for the week.
A visit from Manchester City is on the agenda for tomorrow and rather early. The clash could have some implications for the top of the table as a win for Chelsea would further strengthen their title credentials. However, a win for City could send them top of the table, taking into account other results.
With the game set at 12:30 PM BST, it will be the earliest game of the weekend alongside Manchester United vs Aston Villa. Cech, Chelsea’s technical and performance advisor, felt that an early win for City or Chelsea will give them an advantage (h/t Football.london).
“If you get the result in a game like this, you can really enjoy the rest of the football for the weekend. You start early, you finish early, you can watch the other games and enjoy the rest of the day with the family, have a nice meal with the good feeling that it was a great win. That’s the advantage of the early game – if you manage to win!”
It is indeed a very early kick off and players can stay relaxed over the rest of the games over the weekend should they win. Chelsea would want to get a good result here as it will go a long way in keeping some distance from the chasing pack.
