Fans react as Chelsea trio of Lukaku, Mount and Werner impress on international duty

The Chelsea trio of Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner and Mason Mount went on to play starring roles on international duty (h/t official site). All three were in action on Thursday with Belgium, Germany and England respectively and it was all wins for them.

The international break is in full swing as clubs fight it out for the FIFA WC Qualification spots. Matches are going on all across the globe with teams trying to secure a place for the showpiece event in Qatar next year. Chelsea also had quite a few names that featured for their respective nations and it was a happy outing for them.

Our newest star man Romeulu Lukaku was in action for Belgium as they took on Estonia. Spearheading the attack, Lukaku added two crucial goals that would help Belgium get the lead and provide a cushion. His side eventually ran out 5-2 winners and lead Group E with 10 points from four games.

Timo Werner was doing the same for Germany as they faced Liechtenstein. The game proved to be tricky but the Chelsea striker kicked off proceedings with a goal just before halftime. Leroy Sane added another but Germany are still second in Group J behind Armenia. Elsewhere, England ran out comfortable winners against Hungary by four goals with Mason Mount assisting the opener Raheem Sterling scored.

It’s a good thing that our key players are playing prominent roles for their nations and keeping on their toes. Two more rounds are there to be played over the coming days before the group gets back to the club. Chelsea will face Aston Villa when they return to action on September 11th.

Fans were also happy to see the players in such good form. Here are some of the best reactions as found on Twitter.
