According to Express, Chelsea star N’Golo Kante had to withdraw from the France squad due to injury. The midfielder was forced to sit out France’s draw against Bosnia with an ankle injury that has been troubling him since the Liverpool game.
As the international break goes on, our club heroes are featuring for their nations in the FIFA WC Qualifiers. Several stars from Chelsea are also in action but it seems N’Golo Kante will not be in action for France despite being called up to the squad.
Kante started the first game of the season against Villarreal in the UEFA Super Cup but was not handed another start until the Liverpool game. However, he would go off injured during the game at halftime after a coming together with Sadio Mane. Mateo Kovacic had to continue in his stead.
It was because of the same ankle injury he sustained against Villarreal. He was not played in the game against Palace as a precaution but it seems the injury is taking more time to get over. The diminutive midfielder had to withdraw from France’s squad for the World Cup qualifiers and he is also very likely a doubt for the Aston Villa game when Chelsea return to action.
Chelsea and Thomas Tuchel might not have to panic just yet because they have a new midfielder in Saul Niguez. In hindsight, he looks like a smart buy, especially with Kante’s injury troubles at the start of this season. For now, Tuchel will be hoping that his small break can be enough for Kante to get back up to speed.
