According to reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are keen to hand new contracts to Jorginho and N’Golo Kante. Those are likely to be discussed once the summer transfer window is over and all new transfers are completed.
Not a lot of people could have expected the change in fortunes Chelsea would have in the four months under Tuchel. The Premier League campaign was brought back on track with a fourth-place finish. However, Chelsea managed to save the best for the last as the Champions League was won for the second time in the club’s history.
Among the several heroes, it was N’Golo Kante and Jorginho that formed the crux of the side. Both midfielders put in tremendous showings for the side as they toppled the likes of Atletico and Real Madrid along with Manchester City in the final. They will now be rewarded with new deals after the summer transfer window is done.
The new deals should put an end to any speculation going on. Jorginho has been linked with a return to Italy for a while now but his agent has pointed to a stay at Chelsea. There has been no such case with Kante but he is more than deserving of a new and improved contract.
These two have been the most trusted lieutenants for Tuchel in midfield. They have absolutely bossed the opposition over the last season. For now, Chelsea are concentrating on transfers for Romelu Lukaku and Jules Kounde. Following that, Chelsea are likely to open contract talks with the midfield duo.
