Transfer News: Arsenal looking to swoop for Chelsea target Miralem Pjanic

According to transfer news from Metro, Arsenal are looking to move ahead in the race for Chelsea target Miralem Pjanic. The Barcelona midfielder has been chased by Chelsea and Tottenham so far but it would seem Arsenal are the latest side to do so.

Miralem Pjanic’s short stint at Barcelona could be about to come to an end as interest in the out-of-favour midfielder grows. A high-profile swap deal saw the Bosnian arrive at Camp Nou from Juventus. However, a sporadic role last season meant that Barcelona are looking to cut their losses.

Even the player has hardly expressed any intention to play for the side in a reduced role like last season. Pjanic and Barcelona have held talks over his future and it would appear that he could be allowed to leave on loan.

All three London clubs after Pjanic

Chelsea along with Spurs had expressed interest in the 31-year-old former Juventus star but it looks as if their London rivals, Arsenal have entered the race for Pjanic. Mikel Arteta’s side have already held initial talks with Pjanic over a loan deal given they are looking at midfield reinforcements.

Perhaps Chelsea need not worry about the interest generated in Pjanic. The 31-year-old Bosnian midfielder is not a spring chicken anymore and passing up on him would be logical. Yes, he still has those great technical qualities that made him a star at Juve. But this deal is hardly something that Chelsea need.
