According to IB Times, Chelsea starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi has been tipped to consider playing for Ghana. Edwin Gyasi, who was a star for the Ghana national side, asked the winger to follow his heart in pledging his international allegiance.
Hudson-Odoi burst onto the scene as a 17-year-old in the 2018/19 season where he made 24 senior appearances. However, he has become a fringe player over the last season as Chelsea made a host of signings last summer.
The youngster is also at crossroads with regards to his international career. Born in England, Hudson-Odoi played most of his youth football in the country. However, his parents are from Ghana, meaning that he is eligible to represent them internationally.
The problem for him has been getting regular minutes at Chelsea or the lack of it. He has appeared thrice for England at the senior level and still has a chance to switch his nation. Ghana legend Edwin Gyasi has asked the 20-year-old to take his time in deciding his international future.
“I will advise him [Hudson-Odoi] to follow his heart rather than bowing to public pressure at this critical moment in his career.”
Ghana have been asking the player to switch allegiances for a while now. Hudson-Odoi was keen on representing England but a snub for the Euros meant that he kept the option of playing for Ghana open.
