According to transfer news from The Sun, Chelsea have re-opened talks with AC Milan over a loan deal for Tiemoue Bakayoko. The Serie A side are again looking to bring the player back on loan despite turning down a permanent deal for him two years ago.
The 26-year-old joined Chelsea after an impressive spell at Monaco in 2017. Despite having a number of opportunities, the Frenchman failed to impress and struggled to assert himself under Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri. He was error-prone and often cost Chelsea with his mistakes.
Just after a season, he was shipped out on loan. He has since been sent out on temporary spells thrice, including Napoli last summer. The midfielder has a deal with Chelsea for another year but it seems Chelsea are looking to cut their losses.
Rather surprisingly, interest in Bakayoko has remained high. Last month, Atletico Madrid were looking to sign him. However, it would seem AC Milan have put themselves back in the running (h/t The Sun). They want the player on loan again in a bid to add to their midfield resources.
A dominant midfielder for Monaco, much was expected of Bakayoko when he joined Chelsea. Unfortunately, despite his best efforts, it was not to be. It would now appear that his future lies elsewhere. However, sending him on loan without extending his deal means that he will be free to leave once his loan ends in 2022.
