According to transfer news from Football.london, Chelsea have been put on alert with the Kingsley Coman situation at Bayern Munich. The German champions are said to have pushed back contract talks with the winger after Coman asked for a huge salary increase. Manchester United are also keeping tabs on the situation.
Coman is not being pursued without reason. He has a lot of experience and winning history, having won a host of trophies at Bayern, including the Champions League. Add to that his trophies at Juventus and PSG, and you have a very decorated player at a relatively young age.
A dynamic winger, Coman scored eight goals and assisted 15 in just 39 appearances for the German champions this season. The 24-year-old has two years left on his current deal at the Allianz Arena. Talks regarding the pair over a new deal have so far been unable to bear fruit.
Now, in a major bit of development, Bayern have called off contract talks with the player. His agent Pini Zahavi is said to have asked for a sizable wage increase of £6.9million per year. It has also been reported that Coman has asked his agent to look into a move to the Premier League.
Bayern have a strained relationship with Zahavi after the way David Alaba exit the club. Chelsea may have a decent crop of attackers at their disposal. However, the addition of a world-class winger like Coman would be huge. Nonetheless, Chelsea will have to play the waiting game here despite the situation.
