According to Independent, Thomas Tuchel has backed N’Golo Kante to play a key role when Chelsea take on Real Madrid. Tuchel has backed the midfielder to come good and complete his set of big trophies by winning the Champions League.
Thomas Tuchel has not shied away from the fact that he is a huge fan of Kante. The diminutive Frenchman is a quiet and humble presence who goes about his duties without any fuss. The best thing about him is that he does his job far too well and has carved out a name for himself in the process.
Nonetheless, Kante could be the holder of a prestigious set of trophies this season if Chelsea goes on to win the Champions League this season. He has already won the Premier League twice and the World Cup with France. However, the Champions League has always eluded him in the last few years.
Thomas Tuchel had a warm reply when he was asked about Kante winning the Champions League to take his career to greater heights.
“The guy is a top guy, and he is the guy you need to win trophies, obviously, that’s why we’re so, so happy he’s here. I was fighting for this player and dreaming about this player in any club I was coaching. And now he’s my player. He’s won every trophy except for the Champions League, hopefully he will do everything to get this trophy. For me he’s an example, and an unbelievable input for any team in the world. He’s key and he will be key tomorrow, and I hope in the best way possible.”
Kante will need to be his usual best when Real Madrid visit Stamford Bridge. The second leg of this semi-final will be a vital one as Chelsea aim to reach the final for the first time since 2012. In case Chelsea do make it, they will face Manchester City in the final.
