According to transfer news from reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano, AC Milan are planning to sign on-loan Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori on a permanent deal. The Italian giants have the option to do so for €28m.
A product of the Chelsea youth academy, Tomori broke into the first-team last season after loan spells away at Hull City and Derby County. Initially a regular under Frank Lampard, the England international found himself out of favour since the second half of the last season.
Tomori dropped further down the pecking order this term following the arrival of Thiago Silva on a free transfer. Having been deprived of game-time at the Bridge, he moved to Milan in January, where has thrived endlessly. The 23-year-old has quickly gone about establishing himself as a mainstay at the back for the Rossoneri.
Now, Milan want to make his temporary stay into a permanent one. Chelsea cannot do anything to stop that as the Italians hold a €28m to-buy option on the player. The stance from Milan is clear. They are impressed with his performances and want to sign him on a permanent deal.
It looks very likely that Tomori has no future at Chelsea if he returns from Milan. With his impressive showings for the Italian giants, they will make his stay a permanent one, even if they have to pay that much.
