According to transfer news from Daily Mail, Tottenham are all set to rival Chelsea for the signing of Jerome Boateng. The Bayern Munich veteran is all set to leave the club after 10 years as his contract comes to an end.
Spurs have not performed well defensively in recent games. Their fragilities came to the fore against Dinamo Zagreb, which resulted in elimination from the Europa League.

A similar defensive collapse ensued against Manchester United and it’s easy to see why they are after the German. It has been said that talks have taken place between Boateng and Spurs.
Given Boateng’s free-agent status, there will be a scramble to land the veteran defender. However, those talks with Spurs do come as a blow for other sides like Chelsea, who are also after the player.
While Boateng does not represent a long-term option, he is surely a quality player. Chelsea have made use of the free-agent market once with Thiago Silva. Boateng could prove to be a similar signing for us.
