Real Madrid star Toni Kroos was all praise for Chelsea starlet and compatriot Kai Havertz ahead of their Champions League game (h/t Football.london). Kroos talked about how Havertz has the talent to succeed and reach greater levels.
Chelsea play the most important tie of their season as they take on Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals. The Blues have done well in the competition so far, ousting the likes of Atletico Madrid and Porto in the previous rounds.
However, Real Madrid will be a whole different test altogether. They are 13-time winners of the competition and by no means, slouches. In the last few games, they have shown an immense capacity to play without most of their star names and win.
Among the bevvy of superstars that Real Madrid have, it is Toni Kroos who poses the most danger for Chelsea. The metronomic passer is a cool customer on the ball and can split open the best of defences with his passing range and vision. However, Kroos thinks that Chelsea also have a superstar on their hands.
“If he continues like this, he’ll be hard to stop. But there are no guarantees and there are always stumbling blocks in a career. Kai is now facing the next step and a new situation. He also has to get used to it first.”
Havertz’ first season for Chelsea is still hard to label as good or bad. The midfielder took time to settle in and find his feet. Only now, as a false nine, he is starting to make his mark with goals and assists. The youngster will be hoping to return to the starting line-up after missing out on the West Ham game.
