According to transfer news from Mirror, Chelsea have sent scouts to watch the talented Brazilian Gabriel Menino. A recent tweet from journalist Paco Belmonte claimed that Menino is already a Chelsea player but transfer guru Fabrizio Romano was quick to clear any such claims.
Gabriel Menino is a 20-year-old Brazilian central midfielder who is a youth product of Palmeiras. He joined the youth setup in 2017 and over the years, he has progressed to the first team.
Last year, he made his debut for Palmeiras against Ituano. So far, he has made 60 appearances for the Brazilian side, scoring 4 and assisting 7.
The Brazilian is a good utility player to have in the side. Even though the 20-year-old is a central midfielder, he can play at right-back, right midfield, right-wing, defensive midfield, as well as in central attacking midfield.
It had been reported that Menino has a release clause of €60m but Palmeiras could be open to an offer of €20m. The drastic reduction is believed to be due to the effects of the pandemic. The interest in Menino is also due to the Brexit rules allowing English clubs to sign players from outside Europe.
Nonetheless, the 20-year-old Menino could be a handy player for the Blues given his versatile nature and adaptability that he would bring to the table. Chelsea could use an out-and-out right wing-back or midfielder, and Menino could be a good choice in the future.
However, for now, the Brazilian is a Palmeiras player and Chelsea have only sent scouts to watch the player and no deal has been agreed yet.
