According to transfer news from Mirror, Chelsea are preparing a deal to sign Jayden Wareham. The 17-year-old striker currently plies his trade for Woking, a non-league side, but is close to signing for Chelsea.
Wareham was with Queens Park Rangers prior to playing for Woking. An academy graduate, Wareham spent 5 years from 204 to 2019 at the club’s academy. He was actually released from QPR before finding his feet in the non-league surroundings of Woking.
In the one season that he was with Woking, he impressed one and all with his overall performances. Even though he did not boast of great numbers that one associate with a striker, he looks to have plenty of potential.
The English teenager is actually at Chelsea’s youth setup currently and on trial. He has been training with the U-18s and even played 3 games for them, scoring once and assisting twice. Woking are hoping he continues that way to secure a permanent transfer.
Chelsea are always on the lookout for the best young players and Wareham’s case is no different. In recent seasons, we have seen the club giving chances to the likes of Mason Mount, Reece James and Tammy Abraham, who are from the academy. Wareham could follow a similar trajectory if a deal for him gets finalised.
