According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has dismissed concerns over speculations linking former boss Avram Grant with a return to the club.
Chelsea have face a downslide of form in the Premier League, losing four of their last six league outings, winning just one. This has seen Lampard come under pressure, leading to speculations over his future at the club.
A number of names like Massimiliano Allegri and Thomas Tuchel have been since linked with the managerial hot seat at the Bridge.
Now, it is being claimed that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is considering bringing Avram Grant back to the club, not as a manager, but with a different role in mind.
However, Lampard has dismissed any sort of concerns over the speculations, insisting that any appointment wouldn’t impact his position.
“I don’t know anything about it so I prefer not to go any further with it. So I don’t want to hang on exactly what it means because in a modern football club there are different roles for different people up and down the club. Sometimes a great line of communication to your board or an experienced person can be a great thing.”
Lampard also insisted that at the end, the most vital part is that all the personnel work together towards the success of the club.
“But the most important thing for me always regarding personnel is that the team works together. The team, the club, the staff, that’s the biggest thing.”
Lampard has enjoyed a good relationship with director Marina Granvoskaia and performance advisor Petr Cech. This was key to us enjoying a brilliant summer transfer window.
But, with results not going our way on the field, Lampard has come under intense scrutiny. The upcoming weeks could have a huge say in whether there are any changes made at the Bridge.
