According to Daily Mail, youngster Billy Gilmour is keen to leave Chelsea on loan to boost his chances of making it to the Scottish squad for Euro 2021.
The 19-year-old was held in high regard by former boss Frank Lampard. Despite impressing in the FA Cup win over Luton Town, Gilmour was not a part of the matchday squad that faced off against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
With new manager Thomas Tuchel set to give all players a chance to prove themselves, the likes of N’Golo Kante and Jorginho look set to start ahead of Gilmour.
This does not, however, appear to diminish Gilmour’s standing at the club. He is held in high regard and is seeking regular game time.
The youngster broke into the first-team last season, especially catching the eye against Liverpool. An unfortunate knee injury cut short his season, even keeping him out of the start of the current campaign.
Now back to full fitness, Gilmour is keen to continue from where he left off. If his recent performances are anything to go by, he is doing just that.
If earlier news is to be believed, Chelsea too are willing to let the youngster leave on loan.

He has also attracted attention from Championship sides pushing for promotion. Either way, he looks set to play a more prominent role compared to at Chelsea. (h/t The Daily Mail)
A player of immense potential, there is every suggestion that Gilmour could turn into a leading midfielder in the future. He is always likely to learn and develop more from playing regularly than in training.
With Tuchel willing to give the seniors a chance, the time is ripe for the youngster to seek his fortunes elsewhere, albeit temporarily.
