Chelsea boss Frank Lampard urges football fans to support others during the festive season

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has urged football fans to forget club loyalties and help others over the Christmas period.

The boss’ comments are a part of a mental health campaign hoping to help people cope with feelings of loneliness and mental health issues during the pandemic.

“People may be struggling with their mental health and can feel isolated and alone… so please support someone else this Christmas.”

The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted some more than others. It has also however brought to light the issues regarding mental health that may not have got the same traction previously.

Lampard and Chelsea women’s team manager Emma Hayes are taking part in an initiative launched by the Three UK mobile network.

“Everyone here at the club, together with our partner Three, would like you to support each other this Christmas, because this year has been tough for everyone.”

The Chelsea duo is urging people to hold meaningful conversations with people around them. With the pandemic affecting people differently, you may never know the difference a little kindness can make to another’s person’s well being.

The campaign is intended to help combat the loneliness and mental health issues impacting people over the festive period. Three UK, Chelsea’s shirt sponsor launched the ‘Support Someone Else’ campaign with the mental health charity Time to Change.

“While Christmas is a happy time for some, for others it can be incredibly difficult.”

Christmas is a time of joy and sharing. While this year’s festival may be unlike any we have experienced in our time, there is no reason why one cannot put a smile on someone’s face.

Santa Clause may or may not be real, but you sure can be the harbinger of joy for at least one person this Christmas.
