Thomas Partey to stay at Atletico Madrid amidst Chelsea interest

According to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are set to miss out on La Liga star Thomas Partey.

Atletico Madrid are convinced that the 27-year-old will stay put at the club amidst serious interest from London.

The player has a €50m release clause that Atletico are demanding to be met in full. Meeting it will see us pay the amount in full immediately with no scope of delayed payment.

While Atletico do not expect any renewed interest in the time left, it remains to be seen if Chelsea can surprise them.

Blues boss Frank Lampard has been backed to the hilt this summer. Despite bringing in six major players, he remains keen to add a defensive midfielder to his squad.

A physically dominant athlete, the Ghanian is an excellent footballer capable of competing with the best. His performances against Liverpool from last season’s Champions League serve as a timely reminder of his skill.

Partey is also a cheaper alternative to West Ham United star Declan Rice. The Hammers have placed a massive £90million price tag on the player.
