According to Football.london, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has revealed that the Blues have two key players missing due to injury this weekend.
The Blues face newly promoted West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns later tonight. Having lost to Liverpool last weekend, three points will help us get back on track.
We will however have to do it without three players, two of who are injured.
While Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech will miss out, new signing Edouard Mendy will not feature for the Blues just yet.
The Senegal international completed his £22million move from Rennes on Thursday, signing a five-year deal. However, he has not had enough time to train and will have to wait for his Chelsea debut.
“He’s had a long week where not really trained. It’s too tight a turnaround to put him in contention to start the game.”
With Mendy unavailable, it remains to be seen if Kepa Arrizabalaga will retain his spot as the starting goalkeeper. The Spaniard once again committed an unforced error against Liverpool. If not for the Spaniard, it will be Willy Caballero who could start against the Baggies.
Summer signings Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell are in line to make their Premier League debuts for the club. The duo played in Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup win over Barnsley at Stamford Bridge.
Chilwell is still recovering from a foot injury. It remains to be seen if he is fit enough to start.
Kai Havertz scored a hattrick against Barnsley mid-week. With the monkey off his back, he will hopefully continue his mean streak.
