According to The Athletic, Chelsea star Christian Pulisic is in contention to face Brighton and Hove Albion next week.
The Blues travel to the Amex to face the Seagulls in our season opener on Monday night. It will be the first test for Frank Lampard’s new-look Chelsea side.
Chelsea are coming off what has been the transfer window of dreams. The Blues have brought in key first-team stars Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva, Timo Werner, and Kai Havertz.
While the former two look set to miss out, one player who could return to action is Pulisic. The Blues winger has been on the sidelines since he left the FA Cup final injured.
Arguably Chelsea’s best player last season, his return will come as a massive boost for Lampard.
It remains to be seen if the American international will start the game. But the opportunity to bring him if needed will be a massive boost for the team.
If he makes an appearance, Pulisic will sport the number 10 jersey for Chelsea for the first time. He had sported the number 22 last season. (h/t Metro)
The Blues face champions Liverpool in their first home game of the season on September 19. Pulisic made a killing when he came off the bench to give us hope at Anfield last season.
Hopefully, he can go one better and lead us to victory over Jurgen Klopp’s juggernauts.
The prospect of having all our stars fit and raring to go is an exciting prospect. The club’s transfer activity has seen us build up enough squad depth.
The injured players must not be rushed into the lineup and rather eased in when fit. Much is expected of Chelsea this season. It remains to be seen where we end up come next summer.
