Callum Hudson-Odoi told he may be loaned out by Frank Lampard

According to 90min (h/t The Sun), Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has told winger Callum Hudson-Odoi that he may be loaned out this summer, following the arrival of Kai Havertz.

A product of the Chelsea youth academy, Hudson-Odoi has been regarded as one of the finest prospects to have come through the ranks at the club. However, after showing signs of great promise early on in his career, the Englishman has somewhat fizzled out.

Callum Hudson-Odoi struggled for game time in 2019/20

Hudson-Odoi had an injury-riddled 2019/20 campaign, which restricted him to just 7 Premier League starts. The youngster had some off-the-field problems that cast him in a poor light as well, while the performances never reached the levels expected.

The report further goes on to add that Lampard has questioned his attitude and efforts in training this summer. It is also claimed that the manager feels that the Englishman’s attitude was the main reason for his poor form last term. (h/t The Sun)

While Pedro and Willian have left the club, the arrival Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech, both of whom can play on the flanks, Hudson-Odoi’s chances could be limited.

And, as a result, Lampard has spoken to the 19-year-old and informed him that he may be loaned out in order to help continue his development. (h/t The Sun)

It is true that Hudson-Odoi has failed to kick on from the early promise he showed. However, given the packed schedule, he is likely to get opportunities this term. And loaning him out could prove to be a bad call if any of Havertz, Ziyech or Christian Pulisic get injured.
