As confirmed by the club’s official site, Chelsea have signed Brazilian defender Thiago Silva.

This is the Blues’ third defensive reinforcement in three days. The club had earlier signed Ben Chilwell before following it up with Malang Sarr.

Brought in on a free transfer, Silva is a leader who will add much-needed spine and organization to our back four. Despite being 35, he remains a potent player who can still make a mark at the top level.

Silva expressed his happiness at joining Chelsea. He is excited to be a part of Frank Lampard’s project and is keen to win trophies at the Bridge.

“I am so happy to be joining Chelsea. I am delighted to be a part of Frank Lampard’s exciting squad for next season and I’m here to challenge for honours.”

The Brazilian failed to lift the Champions League title in his last game for PSG. He fell at the final hurdle as the Frenchmen lost to Bayern Munich in the final.

Hopefully at Chelsea, he can go one better as we look to return to the top. A number of Chelsea fans took to Twitter to react to the announcement. We take a look at a few of them below.
