According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea winger Pedro has undergone surgery on his shoulder after dislocating it in the FA Cup final against Arsenal.
This rules him out of the Champions League clash against Bayern Munich. With him set to move to Roma in the summer, he has now played his last game for the club.
It will bring a glorious five-year spell at Stamford Bridge to an end. During this time, he has made 206 appearances, scoring 43 goals and 28 assists.
The player took to Instagram to confirm that the surgery went well. He regrets not being able to win the FA Cup and thanked the fans for their wishes.
A versatile player who can play anywhere along the frontline, Pedro has been an effective player for the Blues. His pace combined with his eye for goal have been the traits that have seen him score a number of important goals.
He played a key role in Chelsea’s Premier League win in 2017, FA cup win in 2018, and the Europa League victory in 2019. Unfortunately, we fell short this season and the Spaniard could not leave the club on a high.
With Frank Lampard ushering in a new era, Pedro is one of the players who will be making way. Lampard paid tribute to the World Cup winner after the 2-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
He praised the player’s impact at the club and wished him luck for his future endeavours. His journey at Chelsea may be over but his footballing career still has some way to go.
Brazilian winger Willian could also join Pedro in leaving the club as a free agent. The 31-year-old rejected Chelsea’s latest offer of a two-year deal amidst reports linking him to Arsenal.
