Twitter reacts as Chelsea emerge as a potential destination for Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi sent the footballing world into disarray as he looks to call time on his Barcelona career.

According to The Express, Chelsea are one of the teams in the fray for the player. The news was enough to send the Blues fans into raptures.

Chelsea have endured an excellent transfer window. The Blues have already signed Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner. With deals for Kai Havertz, Thiago Silva, and Ben Chilwell also edging closer, the summer can only get better. (h/t Sky Sports)

Chelsea have been linked with a move to Lionel Messi

Despite being 33, Messi is arguably the best player in world football. Having endured a few difficult seasons at the Nou Camp, a chance to start his career afresh elsewhere could be tempting.

As for Chelsea, bringing in a player considered to be among the greatest ever would be nothing short of a coup.

Add Messi to that list and we are in the fray to call this summer as the best ever in the club’s history. Former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand did little to dispel anticipation by linking Lampard with an interest in the Barcelona star.

A number of Chelsea fans took to Twitter to voice their opinion on the matter. We take a look at a few of them below.
