It is difficult to keep Chelsea out of the conversation for the Premier League title.
Our victory over Manchester City was a pivotal moment as it handed Liverpool their first title in 30 years. However, lost in the conversation is the sheer magnitude the three points have in the scope of our rebuild.
With Champions League football a necessity, Chelsea currently occupy the fourth spot in the table. The victory gives us a five-point cushion over our nearest challengers.
In spite of the gap, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is not taking things for granted. According to the Independent, the Blues boss has reminded his players that the fight is far from over.
“It’s a big three points for us, but we’re in a battle here.”
With seven more matches to go, Lampard is right in warning his players against complacency.
While he is well aware of the confidence the victory of the now-former champions will give us, the need to constantly keep performing until the end of the season reigns supreme. (h/t Independent)
“I’m not getting carried away. We can get better. We can be better on the ball.”
Goals from Christian Pulisic and Willian made the difference on the night as we won our second game on the bounce post restart.
Lampard also was full of praise for Willian. The Brazilian is one of the seniors in the Blues squad and led the team on when they needed him the most. (h/t Independent)
Having only recently signed a new short term contract, the Brazilian could have a telling impact on where we end up this season.
With the likes of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner incoming, Chelsea will sport a new look next season.
The club is keen to be back in the conversation for the title, this time as a challenger. With Lampard at the helm, no one is taking anything for granted.
