Chelsea preparing a big-money move for Dean Henderson

According to the Sun, Chelsea are preparing a big-money move for Manchester United loanee Dean Henderson.

This could finally mean the end of Kepa Arizabalaga. The Spaniard has flattered to deceive during his two seasons at the Bridge.

Recouping the amount paid could be a problem. The Blues are set to bring in another keeper provided they can loan out the Spanish international.

Henderson is keen to become the number one at United. However, with David de Gea signing an extension just last year, it is unlikely to happen anytime soon.

Dean Henderson would be a brilliant addition for Chelsea

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has refused to give a timeframe as to when Henderson will take the next step at the club. But with De Gea making error after error, it remains to be seen how long he can keep detractors at bay.

Former United star Peter Schmeichel too believes Henderson has to be patient. He says United have no reason to drop De Gea who he called one of the best in the world. A delusion that can work in our favour.

Not being able to get into the team despite the Spaniard’s mistakes could be a source of frustration for Dean Henderson. This is something Chelsea should try to exploit.

There is an opening at the Bridge and he can be the undisputed starter in Frank Lampard’s side. According to the report, the Blues are willing to offer around £50m for the young keeper.

Dean Henderson is on loan from Manchester United

The chance to become the ace keeper at a Champions League side aiming to get back to the top is on offer if Henderson chooses to make the move. It is likely to be a mutually beneficial decision where we would also get a solution for what has become a troublesome position.

Henderson is currently on loan at Sheffield United. The 23-year-old has played a starring role as the Blades push for European qualification.

He has made 31 appearances for the Blades and has conceded just 24 goals. This has seen him keep an impressive 12 clean sheets. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Henderson won the EFL Golden Glove in 2019 and was also a part of the English team that won the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in 2017. He also leads the race for this season’s Premier League Golden Glove.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Henderson. De Gea’s stock has fallen considerably in the last two seasons.

Despite that, the Red Devils are keen on keeping faith in the player. As they hold the glories of the past close to their heart, Chelsea could well take away their future and turn it blue.
