According to Football.london, Chelsea can sign German star Kai Havertz for £70m.
That is if Bayer Leverkusen fail to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season. The Germans are currently in the fourth spot and are on course to qualify for Europe’s top tournament.
However, they are just a point above Borussia Monchengladbach in fifth. With two games to go, it could go right down to the wire.
Leverkusen are holding firm on their valuation of Havertz worth £90m. However, this could fall to £70m if they drop out of the top four. (h/t Football.london)
Gladbach have a comparatively easier schedule with respect to Leverkusen. It is not outside the realms of possibility that they can pip Havertz’s side to fourth.
The 21-year-old is one of the hottest properties in world football. He scored again yesterday to bring his season’s tally to 16 goals and 8 assists in 40 appearances. (h/t Transfermarkt)
The Blues attack has been greatly bolstered by the addition of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech. Throwing Havertz into the mix will make us a force to be reckoned with.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has taken a personal interest in the 21-year-old. He contacted the German ace personally to try to work out a deal.
Premier League rivals Manchester United are also keen on Havertz. Having beat them to Werner, doing the same to Havertz will be a double whammy. (h/t Football.london)
Currently, in the fourth spot, we should aim to get better in the coming seasons.
Even at the reduced price, it is a considerable outlay by the club. Signing the players is just the first step.
We will now have to incorporate them into the lineup to maximize their skills. If they do click, Chelsea fans can expect fireworks in the seasons to come.
