Reece James believes Frank Lampard’s Chelsea can eventually win the title

According to ESPN FC (h/t Metro), Chelsea starlet Reece James has backed Frank Lampard’s young Chelsea side to win the English Premier League title in the future.

He, however, has no illusions that such a triumph will occur overnight. Chelsea has a number of young talents coming through their ranks at the moment.

Apart from James, the likes Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Tammy Abraham have all received considerable playing time in the first-team this season.

The young Blues side have done well to stay fourth in the Premier League, with Champions League qualification a real possibility. They are, however, a mammoth 34 points behind leaders Liverpool in what is a clear illustration of the gulf that now exists.

It is from Liverpool that James takes inspiration from. He touched upon how the Reds developed slowly but steadily before going on to establish themselves as a force.

As long as Chelsea do the same and develop as a team, not only can we close the gap at the top but also one day usurp the leaders.

“We all need to stick together and keep working hard and hopefully with time to come we have a chance of winning a title.”

The addition of talented youngsters such as Mateo Kovacic and Christian Pulisic has added to Chelsea’s pool of talents. The team looks ready to take the next step up by supplementing the promise alongside established stars.

This can be exemplified by the addition of Ajax Amsterdam playmaker Hakim Ziyech. The 27-year-old Moroccon will join the club at the end of the season and bring both experience and quality to the fore.

Lampard has shown faith in his youth talents and they have more often than not delivered. They have not been as consistent as desired though but that is to be expected.

Hopefully, they will keep improving and learn from their mistakes. Winning the Premier League with a group of players who came through the club’s academy will be extremely satisfying.
