AS reports (h/t ESPN) that Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid want to sign Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso before the end of the transfer window.

The Blues have not slapped a price-tag on the 27-year-old but the report claims the Spaniard could be sold for €30million.

Alonso was a part of the Real Madrid side before making his move to Bolton in 2010 and the report adds that Real want to put the Spaniard in the heart of their backline. The club also see the 27-year-old as a backup for Marcelo.

Atletico Madrid want the Spanish star as Filipe Luis wants to move to Paris Saint-Germain, according to the report.  Alonso has become a crucial part of the Chelsea side since his move to the Bridge and selling him this late in the transfer window would be a huge mistake by the club.

The Spaniard is great with his dead-ball deliveries and even pops up with goals, similar to the winner against Arsenal at the weekend.

Selling him now would mean we cannot bring a replacement until the January window. Even if Real come calling, we have to be firm and not lose another player to the Spanish club.

Thibaut Courtois made the switch to Madrid in the summer but Alonso doing the same should not be a part of the planning from the Chelsea management.
