Chelsea are already in advanced talks with £35m star midfielder who is Abramovich’s personal choice

Chelsea are in advanced talks with Nice star Jean Michael Seri, according to reports from France. Christian Ollivier, who is part of RTL France, had posted a tweet (h/t Daily Star) which stated that the Ivorian midfielder is in advanced negotiations with Chelsea and that the player is a personal choice of our owner, Roman Abramovich.

Abramovich might be facing issues with his visa for the UK but the Russian is reportedly looking to play a bigger role in our transfer dealings.

The Star also claims that Seri, who has a £35m release clause has attracted interest from the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal. However, the midfielder has set his sights on the Blues, even though we are facing issues regarding who our manager might be next season.

Seri had been linked with a move away from Nice from the start of last season but he stuck around with the Ligue 1 club which finished 8th this season.

A quality midfielder but where does he fit in?

Seri is a quality player, there is no doubt about that as he almost moved to Barcelona last season but the deal did not take place. The question is, who he would replace in the middle of the park for the Blues.

We already have Cesc Fabregas, N’Golo Kante, Danny Drinkwater and Tiemoue Bakayoko, and one of these players might have to make a move out of the Bridge if Seri arrives.
