Chelsea – Final Transfer Update From The Summer Window

Another Chelsea’s young gun has left the Stamford Bridge on loan. This time around, it’s the 23-year-old striker Patrick Bamford, who will be joining the newly promoted Premier League side, Burnley on a season-long loan.

The former Nottingham Forest striker spent a frustrating 12 months’ time with Crystal Palace and Norwich City last season during which he made only two Premier League starts. According to the reports from the Guardian, the 23-year-old was a serious target for many Championship clubs like; Aston Villa, Queens Park Rangers and Fulham, but the player wanted to stay in the Premier League and Sean Dyche could well be the man to help his cause.

He told Burnley’s official website:

“I had heard in the past three seasons that Sean was interested, but for one reason or another it hadn’t materialized.

“We spoke again in this window and after a chat everything was positive. It was just about getting it done in the end.

“One of the things the gaffer said to me is that he has done well with strikers in the past. He said he’d bring the best out of me and was straightforward with me.

“He told me how it was and it’s refreshing to have that. Sometimes in managers you can get a blurred pathway, so it was nice to hear the truth then you know where you stand and it’s easier to move on from there.

“I know I have to work hard and I’m fully prepared to do that to try and get in that team.

“It’s up to me to take that chance when it comes. The Premier League is a long, hard season and there will be chances. It’s up to me then.”

Bamford joined the Stamford Bridge outfit back in January 2012 on a five-year contract for a fee of £1.5 million, but failed to make it to the first team. The player has spent six loan spells since joining the Blues and has two years remaining on his Chelsea contract.

Alongside Bamford, Loic Remy has joined Crystal Palace on loan. The 29-year old striker has been a long time target for Palace manager Pardew, who has managed to re-unite with his former player. Thanks to Palace’s main sponsors, Mansion Group – who activate in the gambling industry and owns several online casinos like , the club will be able to afford the Chelsea man’s wages. Going into the fourth game of the season without a win, Pardew will be hoping his new found striker can find the back of the net.
