Why Signing This 29-year Old Premier League Attacker Will Convert Chelsea Into Title Contenders Once Again

Chelsea are in desperate need of a transition, with an aging defence to the unhappy strikers, the side is struggling even off the field. With Antonio Conte’s arrival at the Bridge, the fans as well as the board will be hoping to stabilize the players and the priority task for the manager would be convincing the players, who are rumored to be leaving the side.

Chelsea was one of the worst sides last campaign and it is safe to say that they were one of the worst defending champions in the history of the Premier League. Stamford Bridge experienced some horrible performances last season, and eventually faced the sacking of their ‘Special One’ Jose Mourinho.

The Dutch interim gaffer Guus Hiddink then kept his composure to stabilize the squad and eventually managed to finish the campaign in the top half of the table. They finished the campaign on a comparatively high note, but the major concern for the new manager would be the absence of Champions League football, and that would surely affect the transfer speculations in the coming window.

A whole lot of players have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge and with Antonio Conte at the helm, few names might join the side. Players specially from the Italian league has been linked with the London club, but a certain Frenchman’s name has popped out from nowhere and the media has been linking him with the Blues in the recent weeks.

Dimitri Payet! Yes, you heard it right. According to reports from England, Chelsea are ready to move in with a deal for the French superstar. Payet was absolutely stunning last year and was one of the many reasons why the Hammers ended their campaign on a high note and also, qualified for the Europa League.

The 29-year-old Frenchman was bought by the Hammers last year on a five-year contract from the French side Olympique de Marseille. Payet settled down in the squad quickly and became the first team member in no time. In his 30 appearances for the side, he scored 9 goals and created 116 chances in which 12 were converted into the back of the net.

After his fantastic campaign with the Hammers, he was called up by his national team manager for the Euro 2016. Well, to be crystal clear, right at this very moment, he is in his prime form and no one can doubt his abilities.

The French attacker usually plays as an attacking midfielder, but can also be used as second striker/winger. Now, talking especially about Chelsea; the Frenchman, at 29 is doing a great job and him working under Conte would surely make him a wonder.

It is safe to say that he single handedly guided the Hammers to their Premier League quest, and just imagine what damage he might do if he has players like Hazard and Willian along side him. There is no doubt that he would get chosen ahead of Pedro and Oscar and would definitely play as an attacking midfielder, just behind Diego Costa.

Payet works tirelessly on the field and contributes his equal passion in the attack as well as in defence. We are pretty sure that the side would revive if Payet is brought into the team. He is an absolute threat in attack and besides that, he is a perfect playmaker. The 29-year-old late-bloomer was instrumental last season, and is replicating his form in the current European Championship, and therefore, he cannot be named as a one-season-wonder.

Working alongside one of the greatest managers of the sport would help the team as well as Payet to a great extent and buying him would surely make the side a title challenger once again.
