1) Physical
Jose Mourinho loves a strong centre-forward, we know that. Didier Drogba was integral to his success in his first stint at Stamford Bridge and Samuel Eto’o and Cristiano worked as the target man at Inter and Real Madrid.
Although he now has Eto’o again, he’s half the player he used to be and Beteke could be the spearhead to the Chelsea attack.
2) Composure
Benteke scored 23 goals in 39 games last season and showed us all just what he’s about. He has a natural rapport with the goal – he never has to take a second look or think about what he’s doing when in front of the onion bag.
Fernando Torres is the complete opposite and hesitates at every opportunity, while Demba Ba doesn’t seem to even get into the positions needed to spurn a chance.
3) Age
Benteke is still only 22 years of age, which seems remarkable. The Belgium international is seven years younger than Torres, six years younger than Ba and 10, yes TEN, years younger than Eto’o.
