Spanish side after Blues’ striker

After struggling with this season both domestically and in Europe Villarreal boss Juan Carlos Garrido is keen to sign Lukaku on loan in January.

The Spaniards believe that they could tempt Chelsea to loan the young star as they can give him much needed first team action.

The Belgian joined from Anderlecht for £18m in the summer but has found it hard to break into the Blues’ starting 11 due to the number of forwards available to Andre Villas-Boas.

Villarreal had problems with injuries this season, the latest being ex-Manchester United striker Giuseppe Rossi who is out for the next six months.

It is thought that Chelsea are only prepared to loan out Lukaku to another Premiership club rather than abroad.
