The Blues have announced that Thibaut Courtois’ transfer to Chelsea has been completed.
The club got their international clearance on Tuesday afternoon, which saw the 19-year-old sign a five-year contract. The ex-Genk keeper is seen as a long-term replacement for Petr Cech, but will not feature in the first team this season as he is set to be sent to Atletico Madrid for a season-long loan.
Last year, Courtois was part of Genk’s championship winning team, he only conceded 32 goals in 40 games and was named Belgian Goalkeeper of the Year as well as Genk’s Player of the Year.
