William Gallas tells Chelsea to keep Reece James

Former Chelsea player William Gallas has advised Chelsea to keep Reece James after reports emerged that the Blues are open to selling the right-back next season in order to raise significant funds.

Real Madrid have been courting the fullback and are keen on signing the 24-year-old next season, and if they make an attractive offer, the Blues might consider it. The fullback has endured an injury-ridden season, and Mauricio Pochettino revealed the fullback might miss the remainder of the campaign.

The Blues have been instructed to adhere to the Financial Fair Play regulation for the upcoming season and have been warned about their extravagant spending. The Blues intend to let go of the players before going on a massive spending binge in the upcoming summer window.

And many academy players have been listed who could be sold to raise funds next season, and James’ exit will certainly not go down well with the club. The former Chelsea player has now advised them to keep the fullback, (h/t Metro), Speaking to Gambling Zone, he said:

‘’Chelsea won’t sell Reece James; you have to keep players who have come through the academy, and you need players with that identity.’’

The club’s identity is its academy players; if you sell them, people won’t think highly of the club’s ability to nurture academy players. James is our most valuable player, and when he’s on the pitch, his abilities are evident; but, his unfortunate history of injuries has limited his potential. He is essential to the Blues in every game, but he hasn’t played much since the previous campaign.

Reece James is yet to return from a hamstring injury.

Before deciding on James’s future and allowing him to recuperate, we must evaluate his circumstances. Being the club’s popular face, his sale may result in a substantial windfall. The Blues may have to sell him if his injuries don’t get better after he returns.

Real Madrid have sounded their interest, and if they make a lucrative offer, the Blues will consider selling him as they want profit, as we saw with Mason Mount.
